When there is a lot of fishing traffic on the lake or when the water is especially clear-downsize your tackle and use a lighter line to increase your chances of a catch. The heavier gear makes more of a disturbance in the water on those busy days. Heavier tackle also creates more of distraction rather than an attraction to fish in clear water.

Observe other anglers fishing and to see what bait they are using. Make your cast behind where thay are fishing and use different bait to give you a different look in the water. When fish get used to seeing the same bait they will be more likely to go after something unique.
